Fitness Boot Camps

without comments

Fitness boot camps are fast becoming the latest craze in the health-conscious modern world. More and more people prefer fitness boot camps to exercising in the gyms or at home and this is converting fitness boot camps into a money-raking business.

Fitness boot camps provide a power-packed workout in the span of an hour. It is this economical usage of time that drives people to fitness boot camps. These boot camps may meet several times a week, for an hour’s duration each.

Classes begin with a simple warm-up exercise like squatting or sit-ups or walking on the treadmill. Usually people perform these exercises in groups and then alternate their exercises. This helps to break the monotony. As the class progresses, the exercises become more and more difficult. There is just no letting go till the class is complete.

Many people who join such fitness boot camps find it very taxing at first. But when they realize the benefits, they change their minds. Some just aren’t physically able to keep up, so health experts recommend potential clients get a checkup before joining a fitness boot camp.

Fitness boot camps are not for the faint of heart. The instructor is often harsh, yelling at his people and reprimanding them in no uncertain terms for failing to maintain standards. There are punishments for being late, which could be more exercise. At the end of the day, the instructor’s mission is to give people the maximum workout possible.

Mostly, retired army or navy personnel run fitness boot camps. They may have their own camp or they may utilize open-air places like parks or beaches. Being surrounded by nature gives more value to the exercise. There are fitness boot camps designed specially for women, older people and children. They are also a bit costlier than gyms. A 20-hour class would cost roughly from $200 to $250, prices being subjective of the location and the reputation of the class. There is also variation in the time for which the classes are conducted and the number of days.

The majority of people who have joined fitness boot camps are quite satisfied with the end product, though they may have problems earlier due to the harsh methods employed. They believe that in these times of hectic schedules a fitness boot camp may be the only answer to getting a high-value workout.

Look Your Best With Some First Date Grooming Tips

    without comments

So the big night is quickly approaching, your first big date with the cutie you have been eyeing. So what do you need to get ready for that first big date? You need to look good! First impressions are everything, and everybody likes to know that they are with someone who values and takes care of themselves, so put the extra effort into looking your best.

The fist thing that you need to decide on is what you are going to wear. Of course, this is largely dependent on where you will be going, so if you have that crucial piece of information, you will have a much easier time selecting your outfit. If he has not told you where you will be going on the date, then it is usually a safe bet to dress in a casual yet sharp looking outfit such as a simple dress, or nice slacks and a blouse.

While you might want to get your hair trimmed, if it has been awhile since your last appointment, it is not generally a good idea to try a new style or make a radical change in your hair before a first date. If you are not happy with the outcome of your hair, or not yet comfortable with your new style, that will project in your confidence about yourself and you do not want anything detracting from your personality.

Do not neglect your scent. The sense of smell is a powerful tool when you are trying to create a connection with a member of the opposite sex. You might want to stick with your signature perfume for the first date, or try something new. If you are trying something new, be sure to test it out before the date to see how the smell reacts with your body chemistry. Whatever you do, do not overdo scent; your date should be able to smell it when he is very close to you, not from across the room.

One of the most important aspects for the first date is your mouth. Your date will be spending a lot of time looking at your mouth while you are talking so be sure that your teeth are clean and brushed and there is nothing stuck between them. Also, do a periodic check if you reapply lipstick that it is not on your teeth. And of course, make sure your breath is minty fresh if you want to experience the all-important first kiss.

How You Can Save On Auto Insurance

    without comments

Many small factors determine the actual cost in involved with auto insurance. Paying attention to such details will markedly minimize the expense of insuring your vehicle.

The law in most places requires of the vehicle driver to carry an auto insurance policy and many people approach it something as something that must be done but preferably avoided. Often then, they go to the same place every year possibly not aware of important savings that are available to them.

One of the simplest things to do is just to have a look around. It is not that difficult to get a few quotes from a few insurance companies around in order to notice which one provides the best features for the dollar. These days with the wide spread of the Internet such task is made very easy and insurance quotes can be received in few minutes right on one?s own personal computer.

One of the things insurance companies often do in determining the client’s cost of the insurance premium is looking up his or her credit history. So having it improved can obviously save money. Credit management is a whole other topic but briefly here – anyone is entitled to free credit score report on oneself up to once every 12 months. Each of the credit reporting agencies being Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion are obligated by law to comply with such request.

How knowing the score can be to advantage? Well, each of the positive and negative remarks in the report have expiration date ? therefore applying for insurance after a negative one expires can by itself lower the insurance premium. Otherwise, obviously, paying the bills on time is the main factor in keeping the score on the high side.

Also you don’t need to pay for fancy or frequent credit reports basic one is all that is needed. And once we are on that topic – there are some companies around that say they offer a ‘free’ credit report while it is not free at all – the fine print states that an annual ‘membership fee’ needs to be paid in order to obtain that ‘free credit report’. So that is something to certainly be careful about.

And last but not the least idea for saving on auto insurance premiums has to do with the fact that not all the car models are considered equal by the insurance companies. For instance vehicles that statistically show to be stolen the most will also carry higher insurance cost. And if the particular car parts tend to be more expensive so then will be the insurance.

    Does Work/Life Balance Really Exist?

    without comments

If you look at almost any issue of nationally published women’s magazines, you’ll find article upon article trying to convince the American public (and American women) that you can have it all — a brilliant career/business and a marvelous family life — and then follow with instructions on how you can accomplish this easily.

I am just not buying into this train of thought. In order for most successful business people to get where they want to be in their businesses, something has to go. For me, it’s been a personal life. As a single woman of 40 with no children and no significant other on the horizon, I’ve got much more flexibility than most. I can make a conscious decision to forego some aspect of my life on a shorter-term basis to reach my goals. Most of us aren’t quite that lucky, however. You have children you have to get dressed and to school each day, or a spouse who needs more attention than just daily feeding and watering, or an elderly family member whose health might be failing. leaving you with caretaking responsibilities.

What we all need is a really great wife. Now, before all the women seek to lynch me, think about it for a moment. Wouldn’t it be great to have a June Cleaver at home taking care of the children and all the household responsibilities, which would leave you with the freedom to do what you needed to do to get your business where it needs to be? No more worries about getting the kids to soccer practice or packing for that trip to Baltimore or having to come home and fix dinner after a very long day at work? Great fantasy, isn’t it?

So, given the reality that the “wife store” is permanently out of stock, how do today’s business owners still achieve the objectives of their business without ending up in divorce court or having an emotional meltdown? I’ve discovered the hard way that being selfish is the key. Yep, that good ole’ selfish word — the word our mothers have led us to believe was associated with being uncaring and unfeeling of others. For me, that translates into weekends that I spend alone engaged in activities that I enjoy. Sure, it’s difficult to turn off business, and it can be a challenge to turn down invitations with friends, and some weekends I’m more successful than others. But as a card-carrying INFP on the Myers-Briggs scale, I know that I can tolerate only so much of being around other people at networking events, meetings, classes, and etc., and I have to recharge and get grounded again in order to get up and do it again on Monday morning. So, I spend my weekends going to festivals, the museum, a great movie, out to eat at a favorite restaurant, or reading a new book.

I will guarantee you that if you are not getting your needs met and engaging in active self-care, you won’t be pleasant to be around. I’ve been there, done that, bought the T-shirt, and moved on. Do yourself and your family a favor — figure out what self-care means to you and strategize with your spouse or significant other about how you can achieve that without unduly burdening other family members. It’s all about taking care of you–if you’re not willing to do that, who will?

Limit Company Liability – Start a Vehicle Accident Prevention Program

    without comments

Motor vehicle crashes cost US employers over $60 billion annually in medical costs, legal expenditure, property damage, and lost productivity. While costs by state and Industry vary, on-the-job crash injuries (fatal and non-fatal) amount to about 6.5 percent of all crash injuries. As a result, the cost of workers? compensation, Social Security benefits, health and disability insurance continues to rise. An investment in a comprehensive motor vehicle accident prevention program can be a winning approach to reducing these expenses and an effective tool for helping limit your company’s liability exposure.

    Consider the Savings
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration?s report entitled ?The Economic Burden of Traffic Crashes on Employers? (request a free copy of the 35-page report on the author’s web site), the average crash costs an employer $16,500. An employee that has an on-the-job crash resulting in an injury, costs their employer $74,000. In the case of a fatality, costs often go beyond $500,000. Additionally, off-the-job crashes not only affect individual employees, they are costly to the company as well. The aforementioned NHTSA report had this to say about potential financial benefits, ?Traffic safety programs are an alternative to reduce health care expenses to employers without reducing the benefits offered to employees. Protecting employees from motor vehicle crash injury can be a profitable investment of time and resources?.

Companies that utilize a crash avoidance program often realize immediate benefits due to the positive return-on-investment (ROI) from a well-designed safety agenda. Consider the findings of Liberty Mutual Insurance Company?s report entitled ?Executive Survey of Workplace Safety?. In their study, they found approximately 61 percent of questioned business executives think their companies receive an ROI of $3.00 or more for every $1.00 spent on improving worker safety.

    Protecting Valuable Assets
Most well informed employers understand their employees are critical to the success of their business. Showing a commitment to protecting the safety and welfare of valuable workers can go a long way to help improve employee work satisfaction and retention. If your company happens to be a professional transportation or delivery business, the benefit can be even greater. With the extreme shortage of qualified truck drivers, focusing on employee wellbeing can aid in the reduction of a major cost and time encumbrance?truck driver turnover.

?The costs associated with hiring and training new drivers is much better spent on furthering the safety and wellness of our employees?, noted Mark W. Kadlec, VP of Human Resources & Safety at Distribution Technologies, Inc. (www.disttech.com). Headquartered in Newbury, Ohio this bulk transport company is an example of a professional carrier benefiting from a highly focused vehicle safety regimen. Consistently recognized by the National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC) for operating one of the country’s safest fleets, DistTech has received the prestigious NTTC Outstanding Performance Trophy six times. Kadlec furthers, ?Documenting procedures, on-going safety training and the use of advanced technology allowed DistTech to improve its safety record for 15 consecutive years. Investing in state of the art driver fatigue monitors and video camera systems to alert our drivers of a potential collision, are just two examples of how we protect our employees, our assets and our customers.?

    Too late? Maybe not!

    without comments

Do you have dreams that have never been realized? Do you feel like it?s too late to act on them? Well?.maybe it?s not!

Since my childhood, I aspired to be a published author. I?ve always loved to write. Keeping a journal was a passion that began when I was nine years old. But many years passed without my dream coming true.

You might be thinking, why would anyone (besides my family and close friends) want to know anything about me and my dreams?

March being National Women?s History Month compels me to write not so much about me and my dreams but about a woman whose life example is encouraging me to pursue my dreams. Even now, as I approach the half century mark. An empty nester wondering what?s next for my life besides becoming a grandmother some day.

The pursuit of dreams, for women and men alike, has long been a powerful force in restoring hope in the face of impossible odds. Its power often comes when we consider that ?impossible odds? might sometimes be self-imposed. Such as self-imposed ?odds? that make us sigh with dismay: ?too old? or ?too late.? But to impossible odds, the dreamer and visionary will always say, ?Not so!?

I first learned of Mary Baker Eddy as an American author of a book that explained groundbreaking ideas about spirituality and health. Ideas that are more at home in the 21st-century than in her own 19th-century world, in fact. She openly challenged the conventional thinking in theology, medicine and science of her times. So she was often the target of criticism and slander. Consequently, I?ve found that some historic records still don?t tell all the facts of her life correctly.

David Hufford wrote in his book, Eddy: Current Running against the Mainstream, ?In the late 1800s, there were very few women in medical schools, in seminaries, or in universities. Mrs. Eddy and a handful of other women upset centuries of tradition when they began to speak and write about religious and medical issues?and to talk openly about the equality of men and women.?

There is much to learn from the lives of others. So how important it is for his-stories and her-stories to be accurately told.

What inspires me now at this time in my life is Mary Baker Eddy was 54 years old when her renowned book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, was first published. And top that with she was 87 years old when she launched The Christian Science Monitor, as a balanced and ethical alternative to the sensational journalism of her day. A paper that remains a leading international newspaper today, I might add.

Such accomplishments, and there were many others, by a woman during her middle age and senior years, gives me inspiration to imagine the possibilities for my dreams today.

Eddy?s life story is testament to the fact that it?s never too late to pursue dreams. Her own words give some insight into how dreams can be accomplished. ?The devotion of thought to an honest achievement makes the achievement possible.? Mary Baker Eddy?s life and accomplishments proved this for us all. (www.marybakereddylibrary.org)

History is filled with accounts of many great men and women who have fulfilled their dreams. Mary Baker Eddy describes their lives as ?miracles of patience and perseverance.? And like them and like her, we?ve all got it in us.

Still feel like it?s too late to pursue your dreams?

    Well?maybe it?s not!

Conference Gifts That Deliver Your Message

    without comments

Trade shows, conventions and conferences are very different animals, so it only makes sense that choosing promotional conference gifts should highlight different priorities than choosing trade show gifts. Think about the purpose of a conference ? to share information, network with other providers in the business that you share and learn about advances and research in your field. That differs greatly from the purpose of a trade show, where the purpose is to introduce products to the marketplace and network with suppliers and buyers, or a convention, where the purpose is often recognition and awards which may be combined with education and/or networking and entertainment. With that in mind, how do you choose conference gifts for attendees that will promote your product or business while being useful at the event?

The key factor in any promotional giveaway is functionality. This is as true with direct mail promotional gifts as it is with conference gifts. The difference is in the functions that should be considered. Here are some guidelines from experts in promotional development to help you choose useful and effective conference gifts for your next conference.

Organizing Your Information One of the primary reasons that most people attend conferences is to gather information, so gifts that make that easier to do are highly appreciated and likely to be used during the conference and long after. Conference folders that include a pad, pen and firm writing surface are invaluable to audience members who will be taking notes and names. You?ll find these in a wide range of prices and qualities, some with additional useful features like business card wallets, storage pockets and even calculators. Even a small jotter pad can come in handy, and pens imprinted with your logo are sure to be useful.

Spillproofing Your Drinks Travel mugs and water bottles are another great conference giveaway, especially if you give them away filled at the start of a workshop or lecture. You?ll be catering to the basic need for something to sip on, and offering them a gift that will be useful throughout the conference and after. And usefulness is the key to continued exposure for your logo and brand.

Carrying It With You Tote bags and carrier bags are another excellent conference gift idea. They can be handed out or picked up at the start of the day, filled with all the necessary conference materials, and used to hold onto all the materials and notes that your attendees gather throughout the course of the day. Even if you?re a participant in the conference and not an organizer, carrier bags can make a thoughtful, useful takeaway gift from your lectures or presentations.

Put It On Your Back Wearable conference gifts are always a big hit. For most people who attend industry conferences, their professional affiliation is a part of who they are. A conference t-shirt, cap or rugby shirt is a welcome conference gift. Other useful wearable conference gifts include badges and lanyards that identify attendees and encourage them to interact with each other.

Five Keys To Keep You Moving Forward

    without comments

Everyone wants to be able to improve their lives in some way: to heal something, to start something new, to find their soul purpose. As long as we are alive, this process continues. Everyone has a next step waiting to be taken, and everyone ? absolutely everyone ? has trouble accomplishing it. In fact, we spend an inordinate amount of time making up reasons and excuses for not moving forward.

Being stuck can be extremely painful. The desire you have to change a habit or improve your life comes from your soul. When you do not move forward with it, you block the very expression of your soul. The frustration that accumulates over time because of dysfunctional patterns of self-sabotage merely represents the surface issue.

Here are five practical things to be aware of so you can break free and move forward in your life more effectively:

    1. Get over the fear of humiliation. Most people are controlled by the fear of being humiliated. How do you get over the paralyzing fear of being humiliated and worry about what others will say? By recognizing that your true locus of control is inside you. Looking outside ourselves for approval, acceptance and love, is a trap of the ego. The fear of being humiliated by external feedback, is really based on pride. True commitment to the journey of our souls brings with it a deep sense of humility. When we no longer look outside ourselves for approval and affirmation, we finally align with the true Source of our being. That relationship moves us to a place of deep inner honesty and humility because we identify with our true identity as souls.

    2. What reality do you live in? Do you find yourself bargaining that you will get on with what you need to do as soon as the children are grown, or after you are out of debt, or once you get a new job? Are you dreaming of the life you?d love to have if only you had the money, time or resources? If so, you may be living in a fantasy world! On this planet, results come from matching vision with action, step by step. Instead of waiting for the perfect opportunity, the question to ask yourself is, ?What I am I doing in the meantime??

Appeasing the yearning of your soul with empty rationalization and promises, is not enough. You need to start taking action to bring your life into alignment with the guidance you are being given, or else you are living in a fantasy world. If not, you may end up in guidance overload ? overwhelmed, stuck or frustrated ? and you?ll have nobody to blame but yourself!

    3. Guidance Overload. Guidance overload comes from asking for help from too many people but never acting on any of the information that you’ve stuffed into your energy field. When planning a change, it is normal to start gathering information for ways to move forward. The trap lies in over-analyzing each piece of guidance and information or waiting for another, and another, piece to appear before taking action. This can move you into analysis paralysis or guidance overload, where there is too much information floating around in your mind, all triggering your fears, anxieties, limiting beliefs and memories of past trauma – and you don’t know where to start. Guidance overload is also an indication of having given your power away to others instead of taking full responsibility for your life. It is not a happy place to be at!

What you need to know about Becoming a Video Game Tester

    without comments

While it might be very easy to imagine getting payed big bucks to play video games, did you ever imagine that it was anything more than just a wistful fantasy? Your dreams might be closer than you think as game developers expand and refine their merchandise for a wider audience; becoming a game tester is an occupation that can give you looks at the newest releases months before they hit the shelves, insight and contacts in a rapidly developing industry and some cash, all at once.

There’s more to becoming a game tester than you might think. Of course, a certain amount of skill regarding basic game play is necessary; so are good documentation abilities! The job is to spot errors, and while some are fairly straightforward (”hey, if you go too far to the left here, parts of the scenery disappears!”) others are more complex, requiring several paragraphs of explanation. As a tester, you will usually receive the game when it is anywhere from 5 to 75 percent done, and one thing that the programmers and your employers will expect is a a steady stream of feedback.

Game testing can be a lot of fun, but keep in mind that it can also be very demanding. You’ll be working under tough deadlines, just like the rest of the company, and you’ll be expected to provide feedback to make sure that the game itself runs smoothly. Spoken and written communication skills cannot be emphasized enough in this kind of work.

Of course, the easiest way to get involved in game testing is to know someone in the industry. While it’s not all about who you know, it certainly doesn’t hurt. The nice thing is that it’s not that hard to get to know people. Check the forums of your favorite game designers, be polite and jump on any hint of an offer of game testing, because, face it, that’s exactly what a hundred other people will be doing as soon as they see that offer.

Game testing can be a full time job, and in many cases can be a very lucrative option. This could be a good way to get your foot in the door in the industry if you don’t have a background in business, design or programming, and even if it ends up not being your final destination, you will definitely have played a lot of video games!
