How The Teen Witch Should Practice Magic

    without comments

It’s never too early to start practicing Wicca! There are a lot of resources out there for the burgeoning teen witch. Lots of the books on Wicca that are available are appropriate for a new witch, but it’s important to remember that no one author knows all the answers. Therefore, it’s important, especially when you’re just starting out, to think critically about everything you read. Not everyone is honest, especially if you decide to use the Internet to help your search, and some people prey specifically on questioning teenagers.

Then there’s dealing with your parents, who may disapprove of your spiritual choices. First, remember that your parents have the law on their side, so do your best to work within their wants. Minors are effectively second class citizens, so your parents really are the ones with the power!

If you want to pursue a discussion with your disapproving parents about Wicca, try and figure out why your parents are opposed to your interest in witchcraft. Is it because they practice a religion that disagrees with Wiccan practices? Is it because they don’t really know what Wicca is about? Maybe they have some ideas about Wicca that aren’t true; for example they may be likening it to Satanism, and therefore might be worried for your safety.

If the issue is misconceptions about Wicca, then you have a chance at opening a dialogue with them. You can try and educate them, sharing your adventures into Wicca with them. It might help, for example, to show them some of the books and websites you’ve read or are reading. If you have Wiccan friends who are good people, you might introduce them, so that your parents can see that the majority of those who follow Wicca are healthy people who don’t sacrifice goats in their spare time! If you choose the education route, make sure that you are well read and have done your research. After all, you will have to be able to support your beliefs, not only through emotion but through logic and the strength of your sources. Remember that your parents care about you, and only want you to be happy and safe. If you can prove to them that Wicca is not a threat to either your happiness or your safety, then you’re well on your way to bringing them around to your side.

Just remember, there is no “rule” that you absolutely have to tell anyone that you are a practicing Wiccan.

So You Really Think You Can Neglect Your Toenails?

    without comments

Toenails are by far one of the most neglected parts of our bodies. After all, they are hardly ever on show so they are hardly ever thought about. What harm could they possible come to when they are not exposed to anything? Well, it turns out that quite a lot can happen from athletes foot to fungus nails, and most people find out the hard way!

The Importance of General Toenail Hygiene:

There are many conditions that can affect our feet which could be avoided through simple hygiene. Some common feet conditions include:

    In growing Toenails

In growing toenails can become extremely uncomfortable and painful. It occurs when the sides of the nail grow into the skin next to them. Whilst that is bad enough, the skin can often become infected and it can take an extremely long time to heal. Some in growing toenails can only be treated through surgery, so really it is better to try and prevent the condition form happening before it gets to that!

    In growing Toenails

This is one of the worst kinds of nail infections which you can get. Starting at the top of the nail, in the early stages of the condition, you may notice white or yellow patches. There may even be yellow streaks across the nail. The fungus feeds on the keratin within the nail and it spreads really quickly. Usually starting on the big toe, it tends to spread quickly to the nails next to it and in some rare, severe cases; it can even infect the skin around the nails.

This condition is extremely unsightly and it causes a lot of embarrassment to its sufferers. It can become uncomfortable whilst walking and you will also notice a really foul odor coming from the nail. It can be extremely difficult to get rid of and usually a Chiropodist will help you to get rid of the problem. It can take 9-12 months however so be prepared to be patient!

Other problems which may occur in the feet include problems with the matrix (the area which the nail grows from), problems with the nail bed, and problems with the white moon shaped area of the nail.

The Causes and Prevention of Toenail Problems:

Most toenail problems can be avoided through simple hygiene. However, if you wear shoes which are not correctly fitted, that could also cause many nail problems. This is due to the shoes pushing tightly against the nail.

If you have an injury to the nail and it bruises underneath, or if you do get an infection, it can lead to a permanent deformity in the nail.

In order to best look after your nails, it is important that when you trim them, you make sure you are cutting straight across just below the end of the toe. Try not to round off the corners as this can contribute to in growing toenails.

Also, make sure that you are using good, strong nail clippers. The nails on our toes are a lot stronger than the nails on our hands and you really want to be able to trim them quickly and easily without causing damage to the nail.

Once you have finished trimming your nails, use an emery board to smooth them down using downward strokes. This will help to stop any rough edges which could potentially snag and rip parts of the nail off.

Try and wear proper fitted shoes which are neither too short nor too narrow. Also, when washing your feet, make sure that you are washing everywhere such as in between the toes, under the toe nails, and then make sure that you dry them thoroughly.

Finally, wearing cotton socks is a lot better than nylon as they absorb moisture and keep your feet dryer. Fungus feed off moist, warm areas and so sweaty feet are a haven for them! Be sure to cover up any cuts on the feet also, as fungus can get into the wound and infect it.

Overall the main cause of toenail problems is poor hygiene and not keeping the feet clean enough. If you do notice that you are getting sweaty feet, be sure to wash them once you get home and dry them thoroughly. You can never be too careful and it is always better to be safe than sorry!

Military M1A2 Vs Merkeva And Leopard II Tanks

    without comments

The Merkava has components made in Germany and several other countries. so I don’t know how “Israeli” it is. Haven’t a few of them been knocked out by folks on the West Bank, or Gaza… with RPGs and Molotov cocktails? I saw a Web site where they were talking much a lot about the prowess of the Merkava. I think it’s a good tank, but I don’t think it’s better than an M-1A2, or a Leopard II; especially the newest models. My main concern with an M-1 would be that it requires a huge amount of fuel to remain operational… many countries don’t have the logistics to keep them “fed.”

I don’t see how any one can say that the Leopard 2 is a better tank than the M1a2. Especially since it has never been combat tested. It would also be hard to compare it to a Merkava since the IDF has not fought any significant opponents since their little adventure into Liberia back in the 80’s. I know personally, if I had enemy tanks coming over the dune I’d want an M-1 giving me cover fire.

Several of the components of the tank are built in other countries, but the Merkava itself appears to be organic to Israel – it is constructed in Israel by Israeli Defense Industries. It utilizes the same 120mm smoothbore as found on the Leopard, Abrams, Challenger, etc. As far as I know they’ve only been knocked out in the W. Bank by 100kg packages of explosives placed under the road – striking the tank’s vulnerable underside. As far as the other components of the tank – I was under the impression that the technology stuff was actually made in Israel itself and just wanted to see if anybody knew how it “really” stacked up against the Abrams. I was surprised by your experience with the Canadians though.

Someone that I know also raised a good point when he mention that the Leopard hasn’t really been tested in combat – the analysis I was reading called the Abrams the best combat-tested tank in the world, but the Leopard the best tank in some sort of nebulous theoretical way. Tough to say “which is tougher” the Abrams or the Merkava. My impression is that the armor is similar. The 3 tanks that we’ve lost were to do 100kgs, blowing up under the tank.

Other than that they really haven’t been tested in a real combat situation. One interesting aspect is the engine being placed in the front. The idea being that massive amount of metal up front further protects the crew. In the end..it’s the crew, their motivation and their training.

Right now according to Armor Magazine the top tank in the world is the Leopard 2A6. The 2A6 has an upgraded gun that places it slightly over the M1A2 SEP. I asked a friend in the 1st Cav. if the Merkava Mk4 could beat an M1A2. He gave me a point by point comparison, comparing speed, ammo capacity, and power to weight ratio, secondary weaponry, and the Markova’s mortar. His conclusion was that “the Abrams MBT is better then a Merkava”

Another point to consider is the engine. While yes it’s a gas hog, the M1 is also extremely quiet. I was talking to my boss who was prior army Intel. She told about how they were nearly run over during a night training op because the first indication that they had of the tanks approach was when it smashed through the trees fifty feet ahead of them.

Those three tanks are my favorites. The Merkava Mk1 was combat tested in ‘73 against T-62s and T-72s. The armor, which included diesel fuel (I haven’t figured how that one works) was easily capable of taking the punishment from the latest in Arab operated Russian equipment (I hope they read Russian). Only one thing bothers me about the M1A2 – the laser designator can burn out under extensive use, while those on the Leopard 2 (all models) shut down temporarily when overheated. The Leo.2 is also better optics wise for firing manually.

Not to discredit the Abrams or Merkava, but the newest Leo is nicer, incl. a longer gun barrel for higher velocity. IDI was considering designing another homegrown tank with a 140mm main gun! But because of such high secrecy, it’s hard to tell what the newest Markova’s armor is made of – every model has made improvements to it. DU armor is nasty for the Abrams to have – but it is penetrable by the latest AT shells.

The Leo. Has some shady secrecy about what they have for armor, so estimations would tell you that the have some advantages over the M1A2 and some important disadvantages. Just remember, a lot of European countries tested the M1A2, Leopard2A5, and Challenger2 (no one says much about those). The tank of choice was either home grown or the Leo.

Monaco Tax Haven Resident Mix Changing

    without comments

The number of residency applications from women in Monaco is increasing, according to a Monaco travel guide.

Best known of Europe’s tax havens, Monaco has also been seen as a social gathering and vacation place for the rich – and home to successful businessmen enjoying the zero per cent income tax policy.

With the social highlights of the Monaco Grand Prix, the luxury yacht show and the casino, the image of Monaco’s incoming population could be misconstrued as a male dominated business orientated environment, with women taking their place behind the casino dealing tables and the pit lanes for the Monaco Grand Prix.

But the incoming mix is changing, and with it Monaco and Monte Carlo’s image.

A Monaco travel guide claims that the change has been noticeable in recent years, with more women taking top positions in the banks and finance houses in Monte Carlo.

‘Even ten years ago it would almost certainly have been a man you would be seeing if you wanted to open a bank account in Monaco. Now there’s a fairly good chance that the manager will be a woman, who earned the position on merit’.

Further evidence of the change in Monaco’s population comes from a Monaco real estate specialist company who have noticed a bigger percentage of their enquiries coming from women.

‘The amount of women enquiring for a property in Monaco has increased in recent years’, they say. ‘At one time it was mainly businessmen who were selling up and looking for a tax haven to retire to. There’s definitely more businesswomen looking for property in Monaco now, and more women of independent means too.’

A report in the UK from the Centre of Economics and Business Research suggests that the trend of more women deciding independently to move to the tax haven of Monaco might increase as they suggest over half of millionaires in a few years time will be women.

    Monaco Residency

As well as the Monaco Grand Prix, the principality is Europe’s best known tax haven, with residents enjoying a zero rated income tax.

With property prices among the highest in the world, residents of Monaco normally need to spend six months a year there to maintain residency.

An announcement has been made recently that a new island is to be built off Monte Carlo, and this will provide more land and property in the world’s second smallest country.

Bidders for the development have been asked to take the environment into account – and also the Monaco Grand Prix. Which suggests a possible new route for the race.

Despite being one of the world’s most glamourous sporting events the Monaco Grand Prix is notorious for a lack of overtaking opportunities, and the new space might in time address the historical criticism of the race.

Property prices in Monaco are high due to the lack of land – in the past one of the districts, Fontvieille, had much of its area reclaimed from the sea, but property prices there equal those of the better known Monte Carlo.

One of the best known buildings in Fontvieille, Seaside Plaza, has average prices of three to four million Euros for a three bedroom apartment, and a four bedroom four bathroom one is currently on the market at close to ten million Euros.

One property company who specialise in Monaco property doubt that prices will ease much.

‘By the time the development is finished prices would probably have gone up in Monaco anyway, and this new development on the housing side is likely to be aiming for quality rather than quantity’, they claim. ‘It’s almost certain that the properties will be snapped up by investors off-plan, and then come back to the market with a premium once the buildings are complete. The development in itself will attract more attention to the Monaco property market. In the short and medium term prices are likely to rise in Monaco rather than fall’.

Can a window covers improve a homes value and it?s ?curb? appeal?

    without comments

A homes windows covering are now getting a lot more attention from ?the neighbors? and home appraisers when shutters are installed. Shutters are proving to be a better window treatment, due to the fact they are the only window treatment to increase a homes value and are a major visual element additive on the inside and the outside of the home. Shutters also control the lighting and set mood for each room. Most interior designers feel that shutters provide a finished look to a window and they are more durable than draperies, curtains or blinds.

More than ever before, homes with shutters are recognized as substantially upgraded and thus shutters are the number one window covering all other products. The ?shutter? category is the number one window covering product in recent years. Surveys have shown that 7 out of 10 consumers prefer shutters over any other type of window covering, however only 2 out of 10 can afford them due to the high price.

Shutter offers many advantages over blinds and curtains. Shutters offer superior insulative and control of light entering a room, varying from opening the shutters all the way for a full view to fully closed for an almost blackout control.

Shutters in general are lower maintenance than most other types of window covering. Older style shutters with staples require replacement every few years and special cleaning and upkeep, synthetic vinyl and Polywood materials can withstand wet environments such as outdoor use and saunas. In recent years a laminate DuraShutter material with snap-in non staple construction provides durability and low cost alternative advantages.

Shutters can provide a better insulation value than any other type of window covering. Since 10 times more heat can pass through a glass window than through wall adding a shutter to your window will lower your heating and air conditioning bills.

Shutters are commonly made from 3 different types of materials. Each type has it?s own strengths and weaknesses as well as environmental effects. Traditional shutter manufacturers use wood and then spray paint or stain them to just about any color you desire and they perform well under most conditions. Like any wood product they are subject to warping over time and the paint can peal and crack over time. Unfortunately, some woods are imported and the harvesting of some trees causes harm to the environment. In addition most shutters are painted using lacquer based primers and or finish paints that release VOCs into the atmosphere. VOC?s have been proven to increase green house gases.

Vinyl and Poly foam shutters were developed as an alternative to wood shutters. For certain applications such as outdoors, high humidity areas like saunas or poolrooms vinyl or Poly foam shutters are an excellent choice. The plastic coating used in these types of shutters can fade, change color or yellow over time with exposure to the sun. Unfortunately, vinyl and Polywood shutters are made with oil products and the drilling, transport, refining and storage of oil based products are a concern to many as their use increases our dependency on oil, and when painted, the use of VOC is also harmful to the environment.

Many shutter fabricators are now, as flooring companies do, are offering Eco friendly lower cost laminate alternatives to wood. Many American and foreign shutter fabricators now offer all three choices, Plastic/foams, Wood and Laminate materials. Laminate materials are designed to overcome the disadvantages of wood, vinyl and Polywood shutters. Laminate DuraShutter material is a dense, solid engineered composite that is an Eco friendly recycled wood and paper product. Its density gives it a better insulation value than wood and the Eco friendly laminate coating material provides better resistance to fading or yellowing than Polywood or vinyl. Laminate shutters can be made into an excellent product that is indistinguishable from wood shutters. Since laminate DuraShutter is primarily made from recycled materials and the finish from Eco friendly laminates, it has a significantly lower impact on the environment.

Shutters are often referred to as “the ultimate window covering” but costly until the introduction of shutters made of lower cost laminate DuraShutter materials that many shutter fabricators are now offering as a lower cost alternative. So once you’ve added indoor shutters, just stand back and admire them, both from within your home and from your curb. Drive by any home with interior shutters across the front and you’ll see why so many people swear by them.

By visiting the author?s web site at Durashutter.com you will find all kinds of useful window covering information.

    Fun with Nostalgic Candy

    without comments

Everyone has that special candy they grew up with that they remember quite fondly. Which candy they remember depends on when they grew up, but there will always be something.

Some nostalgic candies just about everyone who grew up with them will love, but those are more likely to still be around. Then there are candies such as Necco wafers that you either love or hate. With some of these candies seeing who enjoyed what is half the fun of the memories.

When you don’t quite know what else to give, making a gift basket can be a great way to give a present. You can put just about anything in a gift basket, but going for the nostalgia factor is a lot of fun. It makes a theme that is extremely flexible.

There are humorous ways to use this. Think about a 50th birthday party. Would a gift basket filled with candies that were popular 30-50 years ago be a great gift? Maybe combined with pictures from that time, especially focusing on fashions that are just horribly unpopular now? Or perhaps a sign or game from that era.

Maybe someone has a favorite old movie. What goes better with an old movie than classic candies that might have been bought at the movie theater and popcorn?

There’s more you can do with nostalgic candy. You can throw a nostalgic party and include some of those favorite candies. The theme can be a particular decade. Decorate according to the styles of that time, dress accordingly and try to have all your food be appropriate too. Candies you can’t find in many stores can often easily be ordered online and in sufficient quantity for a good party.

This kind of party isn’t just for adults. Kids can get quite a kick out of old time candies and they are certain to be entertained by playing around with things from before they were born. They will also often enjoy the older candies, even if they don’t taste much like many of the currently popular candies.

Nostalgic candy is a lot of fun. Candy isn’t something you need to have all the time but it is fun to enjoy. It lets you relive some literally sweet memories. Get together with some friends or tell the kids about how you enjoyed some of these nostalgic candies as you grew up. It’s a fun way to tease a friend or relive a memory.

You Will Get Sick If You Get Involved With Problems Of Others

    without comments

Let me give you a very effective recipe for getting sick as soon as possible: just go and try to fix problems of others, who often even did not ask for your help!

I am not kidding! Always trying to come up with solutions to problems that are not yours is a dangerous road to follow. Why is that? First, because you are dwelling in the energy field of another person, and you do not belong there. Second, because while being in the energy field of somebody else where you do not belong, you cannot be present in your own energy field. So you are making two mistakes at the same time.

Always ask yourself : whose problem is it anyway? If the answer is his or hers, then do not interfere! Never help when you have not been asked to help! We are talking about personal issues, of course, not about life threatening situations. When the house of your neighbor is burning down, you should immediately provide assistance. Or when someone has been hit by a car, then you should not first figure out whose problem it is. In cases like this you will instinctively help out.

But in all other situations, the rule is: keep out of problems that do not belong to you! Only if you are really longing to bear a huge load on your shoulders, only if you enjoy carrying heavy weights and having backaches, then indeed should you keep trying to resolve other ones problems. The golden rule for those who have the tendency to help too much is: do not help at all! Unless you are explicitly asked to help, AND if you feel like it! In all other cases you are not really helping the other, but you are interfering.

Most of the time helping someone is an excuse, so that you can keep busy and forget about the emptiness inside yourself. In this case you are using the other to fill your own emptiness. In other cases wanting to help may be a control mechanism. By helping the other you are actually eclipsing the life of the other one. How many mothers go on washing the clothes of their son even after he has turned thirty? How many mothers keep overshadowing the lives of their grown-up children? Mum should return to her own life and give her children some space to grow up and find out for themselves. If you are always by their side, always there helping out, then you are casting a shadow on their life, because you are blocking some of the sunlight. Make way and let them bask in the sun without interference.

Do not help, unless help is asked for and you really feel like lending a hand. Do not propose to help, but let the other ask you. If you are offering help all the time, then you are preventing others from having their necessary and valuable learning experience: they must learn how to resolve problems by themselves. They must learn how to generate energy by themselves. If you are always around, they will never bother to find a creative solution to their problems, because you are keeping them from becoming more mature and independent.

Some people always interfere with the business of others, under the guise of helping out. But there are also people who always look for others to help them out, rather than doing it themselves. If people, even those people close to you, are always waiting for you to help them out, then say no if you feel they should get out of this mess by themselves. This sounds rather harsh, I know. However, letting your teenagers or grown-up children struggle to resolve their issues by themselves, is an act of love! Your heart may be hurting for the time being, but you also know that if you let them handle things by themselves, they will learn the most valuable lesson there is: I can do this all by myself!

So step aside, and let them discover their own inner strength. Observe, watch, be at the ready for if things get out of hand, but don?t interfere. To say it cruelly: it is not your problem, it is theirs! Your heart may be bleeding, but do not pay the rent for your 25 year old son. Let him look for a job by himself. Do not give him a job at the same bank where daddy is working! That would be too easy, and you would be confirming his idea that daddy is always around to fill in the blanks. No! Son dear should learn to fill in the blanks himself. If he has to work a job in the factory to be able to pay the bills at the end of the month, then let him do so. Even if it hurts you watching this play out, and even if it is hard on him as well.

Do not take this important learning opportunity away from him! Loving is not the same as helping. Stepping aside is much more an act of love than always being right there to do whatever it is you think they cannot!

Their self-esteem grows with the ability to resolve problems all by themselves. Do not take this opportunity away from them. Ask yourself : whose problem is it? You are NOT the one to resolve the problems of your children! Let them do it! Let them feel what life is really about, and let them feel the satisfaction of being able to find their own solutions.

Do not get involved in problems of others. Your boss, colleagues, husband, mother-in-law, friends and children, let them all find their own solutions. Their problems belong to them, not to you! The appropriate solutions have to come from them, not from you! This way you will save a lot of energy enabling you to move on with your own life. Trying to resolve problems that do not belong to you is an express-ticket to severe fatigue and depression! You do not have to interfere, and you should not. Give everyone the freedom to resolve his own problems. And you? Resolve your own! You have noproblems? Thank God for that! Now go on and LIVE!

A Quick and Easy Texas Holdem Poker Lesson for Beginners

    without comments

The great thing about Texas Holdem Poker is that it is easy to learn. Even a beginner can quickly develop into a winning player. By following a sound strategy and playing the best starting hands a Texas Holdem Poker newbie can dramatically shorten the learning curve. So what are the best hands that a beginner should play?

The best hands for a beginner to play are Ace-Ace, King-King, Queen-Queen, Jack-Jack, Ace-King suited (example – Ace of clubs & King of clubs).

I strongly recommend that you only play these starting hands as a beginner. In other words, if you are dealt a hand other than one of the above then fold!

Folding is one of the most difficult decisions for a Texas Holdem Poker beginner to do. The mindset of most Texas Holdem Poker beginners is to hang around and see the flop in the hopes of hitting it just right and improving a hand.

While a beginner will hit the flop and improve their hand occasionally, more often than not they will miss it. The Texas Holdem Poker beginner player that plays poor starting hands will end up throwing more money away than they will win.

When you are dealt one of the best starting hands I recommend raising the pot which will serve two purposes. First, it will force players with weak hands to fold instead of allowing them to stay in the game and see the flop for free.

Secondly, by seeing who raises and calls you get to see who feels that they have a good hand and who may be trying to hang in for the flop.

When the flop is dealt you should look carefully to see if you have improved your hand. Even if you have not improved your hand, because you started out with one of the better hands you may still have the best hand. This is especially true if your starting hand was a pair of aces or kings.

If your opponents raise back this can be a strong signal that they may have a powerful hand. Ask yourself, “What could my opponent have?” “Could they have improved their hand?”

Ask yourself these questions after each round of cards are dealt and try to “read” your opponents hand.

If you have a high pair a raise after the flop can help you assess whether your opponents feel if they have a strong hand or not.

If you think you are beaten there is no shame in folding at this point.

When the turn card has been revealed, if you think that you may still have the best hand I would raise the pot so that I could obtain information about my opponents’ hands.

I would follow this same strategy on the river card.

To summarize this basic Texas Holdem Poker beginner strategy:

    - stick to playing the best starting hands

    - fold the bad hands

    - use the power of the raise to knock out weak players and to assess the strength of your opponents hands

By following this Texas Holdem Poker beginner strategy you will start out winning more hands than you lose. You will start out winning more money than you will lose.
