Encourage Your Child To Feel Important

without comments

It’s imperative for a child’s healthy development to feel important and worthy. Healthy self-esteem is a child’s armor against the challenges of the world. Kids who feel good about themselves seem to have an easier time handling conflicts and resisting negative pressures.

They tend to smile more readily and enjoy life. These kids are realistic and generally optimistic. It’s also been shown that children who feel important are well-rounded, respectful, and excel in academics, extracurricular activities and hobbies and develop healthy relationships with their peers.

In contrast, for children who do not feel important or cherished have low self-esteem, and challenges can become sources of major anxiety and frustration. Children who think poorly of themselves have a hard time finding solving problems, and may become passive, withdrawn, or depressed.

You are the biggest influence in your child feeling important, valued and worthy. Remember to praise your child for a job well done, and also for putting for a valiant effort. Praise the good traits they naturally possess, and help them find ways to learn from their mistakes and failures.

Be honest and sincere in your praise. Help them realize that you also suffer from self doubt and can make mistakes from time to time, but that you know that you are important, valued and loved. When you nurture your own self -esteem and importance, your child will learn to do the same, so be sure to lead by example and steer clear of self-depreciating yourself or engaging in activities that lower your self-worth or importance.

Your child may have inaccurate or irrational beliefs about themselves, their abilities or their traits. Accentuate the positive about your child, and encourage your child to set realistic expectations and standards for themselves. Help them identify traits or skills they’d like to improve and help them come up with a game plan for accomplishing that goal.

Encourage your child to become involved in cooperative activities that foster a sense of teamwork and accomplishment. Through these and other positive, affirming activities, your child is sure to develop a strong sense of self importance, value and worth which will carry into their adult years.

Clear Expectations Make Discipline Easier

Sometimes it can be very challenging to communicate anything with your child. Setting clear expectations regarding what’s acceptable behavior and what isn’t imperative to successfully teaching your child right from wrong. If the parameters are muddled or the child learns that in one situation the rules hold true yet in another situation the same rule does not, it makes for confusion and frustration on both sides.

Sit down with your child well in advance and line out the expectations and consequences of misbehaving or a misdeed. Make it clear that in no uncertain terms is there any room for negotiation at the time of the infraction, and that should such a behavior occur you intend to be firm in your discipline.

Rules regarding your child’s safety, health or well-being should have no room for negotiation when being set or enforced. Other rules can be openly and honestly discussed with your child and an agreed upon action should be forged that both parents and child can agree upon. If necessary, make a contract between parent and child. Lay it all out in black and white, in language your child can clearly understand.

For younger children, you might want to develop a good behavior chart within the contract, and for each week that goes by without any infractions being noted, a favorite or special activity might be earned. The connection between good deeds and special time with mom and/or dad might be just the currency they understand.

But all children need to understand that disciplining them is your way of teaching them what’s acceptable behavior and what isn’t. It may seem as though children fight rules and regulations, but they truly know that such parameters are meant for their well-being, health, safety, and enable them to grow into a mature person capable of making wise decisions.

How To Consistently Reach Your Real Estate Investing Goals

    without comments

When it comes to investing goals, setting them is the easy part; its reaching them that can get a bit complicated and challenging. What looks feasible on paper can seem insurmountable in real life when obstacles present themselves. Overcoming these obstacles and keeping your goals at the forefront of every investing decision that you make is key to moving up the real estate investing ladder and building residual income.

The number one thing that can distract you from your goals is discouragement. In the world of investments, particularly those involving real estate, nothing goes quite as planned and there is always some element of risk. A miscalculation of costs or an unplanned emergency repair can set you back thousands of dollars. If you allow setbacks like these to discourage you, your project will likely hum along on a sour note making it even harder for you to recoup your original losses. If you remain optimistic, though, you will be able to bounce back from setbacks and stay on track ultimately reaching your goal.

In addition to remaining optimistic, there are several things that you can do to ensure that you meet all of your real estate investing goals.

Here are a few tips that you can try for yourself: Break large, long term goals up into smaller, short term goals. Short term goals don’t seem as impossible or as overwhelming as long term goals and are easier to attain. Meeting short term goals also motivates you to keep moving forward as you can track your progress with each milestone met.

Display a list of your goals in a spot that you will see them and be reminded of them often. In a hectic world, its easy to lose sight of plans that you have made, but by constantly reminding yourself of the goals that you have set, you will be able to keep them at the foundation of all of your decisions.

Re-evaluate your goals often. The real estate investing market changes constantly and you have to be ready to change with it. A stale goal strategy will only put you further and further behind your competition. Be ready to change with the market and adjust your goals accordingly.

Consistently meeting goals requires consistency on your part. Begin each day by asking yourself what can be done that day to help you reach your goals. And don’t be discouraged by progress that doesn’t seem to be moving along as well as you would like it to. Any victory, no matter how small, brings you one step closer to realizing your ultimate investing goals.

Optical Drives: The Pros And Cons Of Optical Disk Storage

    without comments

Optical drives and optical juke boxes are the newest type of data storage solution, utilizing CDs and CDR’s to store informational data. Many believe that optical drives and optical jukeboxes will be the replacement technology of magnetic tape drives while others are skeptical of the technology as a viable solution for data storage. In this article we’ll discuss the pros and cons of optical drives and optical jukeboxes as a data storage solution.

    Longevity: optical disk vs. tape

Data on optical disks is read via a laser as opposed to tape media which must touch the read/write component directly. This means optical disks endure less wear and tear during the read/write process. However, the construction of the optical disk, with its soft exposed plastic media layer, makes optical disks more prone to damage during storage and handling. Tape media on the other hand is completely encased until inside the read/write devise.

All data storage devices have a shelf life. Each type of media has a different shelf life, after which the data should be recopied onto new media. The opinion on the shelf life of optical disks varies greatly depending on who’s offering the option. Some say that the data on optical disks is only good for 3 years before it should be recopied, others say 100. Most experts warn that the drive of optical disks is very short, and to limit potential data loss disks should be recopied every 5 years or so. The opinion on shelf life for tape media is just as varied, though most experts agree that tape media should be recopied every 25-30 years.

Random data access comparison: optical disk vs. tape & hard disk

One main disadvantage with optical drives is that they are slower than magnetic tape in terms of random data access. Optical heads are heavy, about 100 grams, making them slow to retrieve data. Also contributing to the slower random data access is the fact that the disks themselves are removable.

Unlike hard disks that are fixed in place, optical disks become loose and shaky beyond a certain number of RPMs. If data access isn’t a part of your daily data storage solution, then this limitation of optical drives shouldn’t cause a problem. However, those that have a need to constantly call on stored data may need a data storage solution with faster random data access time.

There is no universal “right” type of data storage solution for every business. Depending on their specific data needs, each type of business is suited for a different type of solution. Optical drives, optical jukeboxes, magnetic tape media, or hard disk storage each have a different set of pros and cons and each is ideal for one business while wrong for another. For those unsure about which type of data storage to choose, value-added resellers that offer a wide range of brands and products are a good resource for free, professional consultation.

Get Your Creative Juices Going – 5 Easy Ways

    without comments

Writing an article doesn’t just mean putting down thoughts into words then typing and writing it. A successful article will be interesting, well organized and well written. To make sure your message gets across, you have to get the attention of the reader, pique their curiosity, and keep a firm grasp on their interest.

The main element in crafting an original article is always creativity. While this may come naturally and effortlessly to some people, who have a massive fund of ideas, when faced with a blank sheet of paper or screeen, a great many feel their mind going instantly blank too! This seeming inability to get ideas down can drive someone crazy. Many writers have literally torn their hair out when they get writers block and just can’t seem to get their creative juices flowing.

Putting words into images in the reader’s mind is an art. A clear and crisp depiction requires a certain flair that only creativity can provide. The use of similes and metaphors can help a lot, but the way an article gets built up word by word, sentence by sentence then paragraph by paragraph into a whole article can influence its flow and meaning.

So just what can you do when nothing comes to mind? There is no surefire way to get that perfect idea, but there are easy ways to get your creative juices flowing. No one can guarantee having the perfect mindset to fill that piece of paper as even professional writers know only too well, but there are lots of things you can do to help you get into that fertile state of mind. Here are just five suggestions to get you going:

    1) Keep a diary or a journal with you always – some writers even keep a notebook, pencil and small torch or light by the side of the bed in case they have an idea in the middle of the night! Ideas can be triggered by anything you may hear, see, or smell. In fact, all your senses can suddenly bring you a great idea – so you need to be able to capture them immediately before you forget!

Write all of them into a journal and keep it with you for future reference. You may also write down anything that you have read or heard, someone’s ideas could be used to develop your own ideas and this is not cheating or stealing. Remember that ideas and creativity can come from anywhere; it’s your development and improvement of the ideas you write down that makes it unique.

    2) Relax and take time to sort things out. A jumbled mind cannot create any space for new ideas – it’s just too crowded trying to remember everything that needs to be done. Everyone must have a clear mind if one wishes to have their creativity in full speed. Get rid of all obstacles that can be a hindrance to your creativity. If you are bothered by something, you cannot force your mind to stay focused. If you’ve not got time to do every chore in your head, write them down and promise yourself that you’ll give them your full attention later. If you feel this means that you’re not coping, bear in mind that Einstein didn’t even bother to remember his phone number – he wanted all his thinking capacity freed up to focus on his theories!

Try to relax and just spend time thinking about your experiences and interactions with others. Your life experience is unique, and that is what shapes your mindset and your opinions – all of which could be reflected on your writings. Try to get to know yourself, find out what triggers your emotions. Discover what inspires you and what annoys you. You can use these emotions to help you in expressing yourself and your ideas, and to create the right environment in which you can grow creatively.

    3) Create a working place that can inspire your creativeness. Your working place can be quite a hindrance if it doesn’t make you feel happy or relaxed – you’ll be sat there for hours at a time, and if you spend all your time there annoyed and distracted by tasks you can see that need doing, you won’t be able to write anything except about the things that are filling your mind. Creativity comes from being in a good state of mind and an untidy and cluttered workplace that causes distraction won’t be conducive in firing up your creative flow.

Surround your working place with objects that makes you happy and relaxed – the principle is that everything you see around you should be beautiful or useful, or both! You may put up pictures, or spray scents, display objects that inspire, or anything that can get your creativeness cranking. A clean and well organized workplace also rids of distractions and unwanted hindrances. With a good working place, you can work in peace and never notice the time pass by.

    4) Set your mood into creative mode. Setting the mood requires you to just go with the moment or to induce your self to feeling what makes your mind works best. Finding out what makes you tick could help you find ways to get your creative juices flowing. Set the pace and tempo for your mood and everything else will follow.

There are many ways to set the mood. Some writers have been known to use music, lighting or even the odd sip of wine to stir up the imagination – others are known to have tried all sorts of reality changing drugs but I won’t recommend them here! Just remember that unhappiness can be creative as well as happiness – it depends on the effect you seek – so do not be discouraged if you feel down as your muse may be there as well. Others find their creativity outside in the natural world or inspired in galleries and museums by the creativity of others. You need to know whether evidence of other peoples creativity inspires or depresses you though.

    5) Go on a getaway and just do something totally different or crazy – leave your comfort zone! Letting yourself go and having fun produces adrenaline that can make your imagination go wild. Go on an adventure holiday or a long hike in the woods or mountains (obviously, be safe!) – just make it different from your usual daily routine can get your schadule and your mind out of a rut. In no time at all, your imagination will make use of that experience and boost your flagging creativity.

How to Beat Those Winter Skin Blues!

    without comments

There is no doubt that when winter comes around, it can really do damage to our skin. The low humidity can dry out the skin, and eczema often becomes a problem. However, there are things which you can do to beat those winter skin blues.

    How to Treat Winter Skin!

There are various things you can do in order to keep your skin happy and healthy all throughout winter. These include:

    Purchasing a Humidifier

Who does not have their heating on and their windows closed in winter? The last thing we want is to be sat shivering in our own homes! However, the trapped heat can be really damaging to our skin and it can often cause our skin to dry out and if you have Eczema it can make it even worse and the itching may become unbearable. A humidifier keeps the moisture in the air and can stop your skin from drying out.

You do not even have to pay a fortune for a good humidifier, they are usually inexpensive and they can be purchased from any local drug store. However, you should buy more than one to keep the whole house humidified, but you will be thankful for it overall!

Switch to an Oil Based Moisturizer

If you do not already, you should now start to use an oil based moisturizer. Generally, the more oil the moisturizer contains, the more effective it will be in defeating dry skin. The best moisturizers to go for are the ones that actually come in oil form. These usually are made up of 80% oil and 20% water and they are absolutely ideal for winter skin! The water and oil combination helps to create a protective layer which generally makes it more moisturizing than creams and lotions.

Take Precautions Before You Go Outside

Before venturing out into the winter weather, it is always better to protect yourself and your skin first. Believe it or not, you still have to protect the face from the sun in winter and so a moisturizing sunscreen with a sun protection factor of at least 15 should be applied.

Wearing gloves is also an essential tip as the hands often get dry and damaged from the severe cold. Sometimes the gloves can be made of a material which will irritate the skin so make sure the gloves that you choose are really comfy. Many people wear a cotton mitten underneath a woolen mitten just to be extra warm, and this does really help to keep the hands protected.

Make Sure That You Dress in Layers

However cold it is outside, it is important that we dress in layers so that we do not overheat and sweat excessively. With layers you can easily take something off if you become too warm. Sweating causes itchiness so it is definitely worth avoiding! Loose fitting cotton clothing is always better as it allows the skin to breathe, whilst at the same time keeping it warm.

    Condition The Hair More Frequently

The hair also becomes dry in winter and so it too needs added moisture. A good conditioner should sort this problem out and a conditioner which you can simply spray into your hair and leave it in may be worth thinking about as it will lock in the moisture for longer.

    Use a Moisturizing Shampoo

As well as a conditioner, a good moisturizing shampoo is also needed to make sure that the scalp is cleaned properly. Itchiness of the scalp can be a real problem and a good moisturizing shampoo can really help.

Overall, to best look after your body in winter you need to make sure you are getting more moisture into the body than normal. Prevention is always the best cure so be fully prepared and you should sail through winter with no major problems!

Pop Music What Does it Really Mean?

    without comments

With all of the different kinds of music available to us each and every day, it is easy to become mixed up and unwillingly mistake some music for something other than what it really is. Lets see we have Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Soft Rock, Soul, R & B, Country, Classic Rock, Jazz, Latin, Alternative, Folk, Hip Hop, Rap, Dance, Big Band, Polka, the list goes on and on, but we cannot forget about Pop Music. So, what does it really mean?

while its own specific type of music, generally combines several elements of music, which might include country, dance, hip, hop, and rock. Soft rock and pop music are two of the most used words used to describe this genre of music. It can be traced throughout history dating back 76 years or more. Some of the earliest influences of pop can be linked to country and blues. In the 50s, some of its musics most famous influences include Bill Haley and His Comets, Peggy Lee, Elvis Presley, Bobby Darin, and Frank Sinatra.

You get a good idea where this is going; pop is generally a softer side of rock. A mixture of many elements all combined to create the easy listening of pop music. In the 60s, some artists include Frankie Avalon, Bob Dylan, Marvin Gaye, Sonny and Cher, Aretha Franklin, and the Beatles.

The 70s saw disco and rock combine in this decade, which included several favorites such as Earth, Wind, and Fire, The Jackson Five, Rod Steward, ABBA, Donna Summer, Elton John, and Billy Joel.

As you can see, pop music continued to grow in different ways with different artists becoming one of the most sought after genres of music to date. Of course the 80s were no different, this decade produced the King and Queen of Pop, known as Michael Jackson and Madonna. Of course they werent the only people to define pop music in the 80s others include George Michael, Cyndi Lauper, Tiffany, Cher, Phil Collins, The Eurythmics, and The Go-Gos.

During the 90s, pop began to combine the elements of R&B to the genre, which produced stars such as TLC, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, and Brandy. However, the rock influence still remained with vocalists such as Jewel, Nirvana, Eric Clapton, Tori Amos and the ever flexible Madonna. Of course we cant forget about 90s favortes such as NSYNC, Ricky Martin, New Kids on the Block, Willa Ford, and Britney Spears.

The current decade has seen pop music combined with hip-hop elements, which produced a score of new talent and the resurfacing of older talent. Some artists include Justin Timberlake, Nelly, Avril Lavigne, Eminem, more Britney Spears, Beyonce, and we cannot forget old favorites Madonna and Mariah Carey.

Throughout the years pop music has changed in many facets, however, one thing remains the same; it is still the most popular genre of music to date, a fact that has remained solid and true for many decades.

Great Gift Giving While Dating and Romancing A Woman

    without comments

The best gifts to impress single women while dating, for romance, are warm, cuddly, cute, sentimental keepsakes that also have some value and tell her you took the time to scout them out for her. One of the best of these special keepsake treats is a Beanie Baby or a Beanie Buddy.

These cute little collectible creatures last forever and will be around her home prominently and proudly displayed, rest assured. Every day, several times that day, she’ll look at her Beanie Buddy or Beanie Baby or her collection of them and remember you. She’ll remember how warm, thoughtful, generous, sweet, loving and sentimental you are. Rest assured, these are among the best gifts to impress single women for romance.

Most high-end card shops and gift shops offer these cuddly little buddies. You can also buy them online. Some of them are what is known as retired. That doesn’t mean you can’t get them anymore. It simply means they don’t make them anymore. Having one of these is really more sentimental – and more immediately valuable – then having those that are still on the market.

Some of the retired and most popular of the Beanie babies are the Holiday Teddy of 1999, the Ty 2K beanie baby made of confetti in the year of the millennium, 2000, and The Scots Wallace Bear. Other popular ones are the purple bear called Princess Diana, the Halo Angel, Millennium Bear, Fuzz Bear, the Valentine’s Day Valentina Bear, and the special St. Paddy’s day gift, the green Erin.

It may take a little more effort, but the best of these beanie baby gifts for romance and to impress are the ones that single women know are more difficult to find due to their popularity. These are Snowboy, who looks like a little snowman, the Halo Bear and of course Princess Bear, a Princess Di keepsake.

Of course, if you’ve managed to find out exactly what she collects there’s nothing better than taking the time to add to her collection. My aunt collects pigs (no, silly, not real ones), I collect magnets and shot glasses of places I’ve visited, another friend collects newspaper memorabilia. We’d all be quite impressed to have a man show up at our door with an addition to our collection, something we didn’t have and would keep in plain sight and remember him by each and every day.

A man who doesn’t know what his lady love collects can’t usually go wrong with copper, brass, crystal, cut glass, diamonds or chocolate. If he’s fresh out of ideas and is resorting to the old standby flowers he should segue a little and buy a plant that will live a long life, and send it in a beautiful basket or vase that she’ll treasure forever.

These, then, are some of the best gifts to impress single women for dating and romance.

Tropical Paradise in the Indian Ocean

    without comments

Mombasa is an island connected to the mainland by ferries and bridges. The town over looks a wide harbour, where commercial shipping mingles with traditional sailing dhows.

At the waters edge is Fort Jesus, an imposing fort that stands watch over the harbour. The high gun turrets, battlements and underground passages of this 16th Century Fort were the centre of a historic struggle for control of the Kenya coast between the Portuguese army and the Shirazi Arabs. This war was waged around Mombasa over hundreds of years and countless battles, and the Fort stands as a testament to this tumultuous past.

After Fort Jesus it is a visit to the Old Town which is only a short walk away. The old town has many buildings with carved doors and window frames which are characteristic of East African coastal architecture. The air here is always heavy with the scent of spices. Women wearing the traditional bui bui fill the narrow streets and busy markets. The woman and men also wear the bright coloured khanga and kikoy their traditional coastal costume.

At the old port you can watch the traditional sailing dhows being loaded and unloaded with nothing more than human muscle power.

Mombasa is a tropical paradise of palm fringed white sand beaches on the south coastline of Kenya. The turquoise water of the Indian Ocean has beautiful coral reefs. The offshore reefs are alive with myriad fish, dolphins, sea turtles and coral. Both outer and inner reef walls offer world class diving with spectacular coral gardens and drop offs. The Kilifi Creek break the beaches with its azure waters and is a popular port of call for the international yachting circuit.

The Beach Boys sell goods along the Mombasa coast can be persistent

North Mombasa coastline is a world of natural beauty and history.

The beaches of Kikambala, Shanzu, Vipingo, and Nyali are home to a wide range of World Class resorts with fine cuisine and services.

Shanzu and Nyali beaches are lovely but can be plagued with seaweed, which can turn the sea into soup.

The city is full of markets that have been operating in the same way for hundreds of years. These markets give visitors a genuine taste of Mombasan life. Item to buy in Mombassa s markets are hand crafted wooden furniture, sculpture and brightly coloured Khanga cloths that men and women all over the eastern coast of Africa wear both as clothing and as head wrappings.

10 Reasons to Adopt Data Visualization

    without comments

There is more to bar charts than meets the eye with data visualization. Bar charts is just one example of many visual tools which can be used to convey information in the most effective way. Bar charts, bar graphs, pie charts, or other charts and graphs are one of the most common methods of displaying information of various kinds. Everyone from children to adults use them in school, study, and business. Data visualization works with bar charts to create informational displays to reach virtually any kind of audience.

    2. Interactive Map

In addition to bar charts, other informational tools become interactive with data visualization. An interactive map allows information to be displayed on various levels by clicking on the part of the map about which one may want more information. This is called drilling down. The interactive map is a method of data visualization used by many business, government, and community programs. Many airlines proved an interactive map of the plane interior so that travelers can choose their own seating. Many governments or communities create interactive maps of their countries, states, and cities. To learn more about a specific area, all on has to do is click on it. Information interacts with a users needs.

    3. Reporting Tool

This article has already covered examples of how data visualization conveys information to various types of users for travel or education, but data visualization can also be used as a reporting tool. Imagine making a presentation for school or business come alive with an interactive map or bar charts. Information is presented in a helpful and meaningful way, often simplifying complex levels of information to become digestible to those to whom the presentation is given.

    4. Convert HTML to PDF

A presentation is one thing, a handout or file copy is another. By far, one of the biggest challenges with data visualization in the past has been printing HTML information without getting it cut off on one of the margins. In the past HTML format did not automatically format itself for computer printout. Data visualization software can create PDF images of HTML displays for others to follow during the presentation or to file after.

    5. Data Mapping

Research, geographical data, and other information can be effectively conveyed using data mapping. Data visualization provides a method for mapping data in a simple display, assisting the presenter in his or her ability to make important data understandable.

    6. Business Mapping

Sometimes data mapping involves visual diagrams of business departments. Data visualization helps with business mapping. One example of business mapping is the creation of a department map for the shipping department of a business. Real-time information is available for inventory management and location, including inbound and outbound shipping information. Everything going on in the warehouse is visualized on a computer screen.

    7. Executive Dashboard

Though information can be compiled into state of the art data visualization, the information still needs to be managed somehow. Data visualization would be incomplete without an executive dashboard with which executives can customize and manage all data visualization displays and reports.

    8. Flash Graphs

Using flash technology, information can also be displayed in a state of the art format. Dashboards and data visualization displays are unencumbered by too much information all smattered on the charts and graphs. Flash chart, flash graphs, and flash maps display only what one needs when one needs it by responding to a mouse or cursor moving over it. As the mouse finds its target, information and options are immediately displayed. Web site are presented in a tidy and manageable way.

    9..Net Technology
