For example, when I started speaking for a fee I went out and bought a couple of popular books about speaking. Browsing in the bookstore, I was attracted to Lilyan Wilder’s book “7 Steps to Fearless Speaking” I read the back cover. I noticed she could help with 7 easy steps. I skimmed the table of contents, read a few lines and immediately liked her easy to read style. It went in my purchase basket.

Because I wanted to hear from several authorities on the subject, I picked up another book by Nido R. Qubein, “How to Be a Great Communicator: In Person on Paper, and on the Podium.” His cover design was white with clean lines and a personable picture of him on the front. His style of writing was not as easy to read but it still went in my purchase basket as well. Which brings us back to my original point; people buy non-fiction books to solve problems. Problems come in all shapes and sizes. Usually a general category problem applies to all types of markets.

You are the awareness, that knowing-thinking out loud in the chasms of your mind and body. You are the silence, listening and feeling the rhythm of life in what you assume is your body.

To get a sense of this other thing that is part of your body try this:

Close your eyes for a couple of minutes. Begin to notice your mind thinking, but don’t concentrate on the thoughts. Now listen to the noises around you and don’t pay any attention to them. Do you smell anything, can you taste your own saliva. Are you comfortable and do you have any physical sensations-notice them!

Now, as you continue listening to your thoughts which are loud and crystal clear in your head-try to notice who is listening to your thoughts. Who is it in your head doing the listening? There is a presence there that is hearing everything. There is an awareness that knows what you are feeling or sensing. Who or what is this presence. You cannot ignore it, it is there. You are completely aware of everything going on in your body, but who are you-the one thinking or the one listening? This awareness is who you truly are. It is what you may call spirit, soul, or true self. It is what you have been looking for. It is why you meditate and pray. It is always there and you didn’t have to find it. It is the silent observer-the witness to your physical life. It is always in the background-it is not your ego or personality-it’s your true self-it is what you are looking for.

In the act of being spiritual, you lead yourself away from this awareness, this knowingness. It is the natural rhythm of life to move away from itself so that it may know itself. As you become acquainted with the silent observer or awareness which is you-you will find yourself watching and listening to what your mind and body are doing. You will notice what the body is doing, but you will not be a part of it.

From time to time you will talk out loud to it and you may even think you are losing your mind. It is the self that you have been looking for for years. All the things you have done have taken you away from it. Your body is a hollow chamber filled with this consciousness-it is creation itself-it is the holy one. You are the silent one seeking to speak. You are the emotionless one seeking to experience emotion. You are the nothingness seeking to experience something. There is nothing you have to do, be, say or go to, to experience your true self.

If you want to experience the silent observer, close your eyes and be aware, be conscious of the one who is listening to your thoughts.

While I do not recommend that you completely toss your manicurist because of the many benefits that are achieved through the hand and arm massage, I do think that you can cut back on these visits.

To make your hands look their best from home, you need to know how to do a proper manicure (sans the massage, which is not very relaxing to do to yourself).

To perform an at home manicure, you will need: a 4 way buffer, a pair of nail clippers, a soft toothbrush, cuticle oil, polish (base, color and top coat), a hand towel or washcloth, and a bowl filled with warm water and a mild, antibacterial soap. If you like, you may want to get a bottle of cuticle oil, but many men opt to avoid this step. Even if you have just washed you hands, you need to use the antibacterial soap in your water; if you should happen to cut yourself, you don’t want bacteria to enter the wound.

Dip one hand in the warm water for about five minutes. Take it out, brush the tops of the nails and under the free edge (white tip), and dry with your hand towel (or washcloth). To dry the nails, rub the towel up your nail, pushing against the cuticle. If you always dry your hands this way (after hand washing, showering, etc), your cuticles will naturally become exfoliated and look neater. I do not recommend using cuticle nippers or scissors because they will cause your cuticle to become thicker in time.

Trim your nails using the nail clippers. This should not go into the corners of the nail as it can cause a variety of conditions (especially on toes when you cut the corners too deep).

On your 4 way buffer, you can feel the different grits by feeling how rough each section is. Use the roughest section and file the free edge, rounding the corners (you don’t want to scratch anyone).

Using the surface that is the slightly smoother, go back along the edges, removing the filings that you can see. Rub your finger across each edge, smoothing rough places with this same section of the file.

Now, using the smoothest surface (aside from the grey, rubber section), lightly buff the tops of your nails to remove light ridges. Deep ridges cannot be removed because you file too much nail away trying to get rid of them.

This step is only used if you are not going to use any polish, buff the nail with the rubber section of your 4 way buffer. Apply a tiny amount of cuticle oil to each cuticle and massage into the nail and cuticle (you DO NOT want to apply cuticle oil right now if you are planning to polish you nails as the polish will not adhere to the nail properly and may take much longer to dry.

If you are using polish, apply your base coat now, taking care not to apply it too thick. Base coat is a must if you want to grow your nails or you are using colored polish. If you only want a clear polish, simply apply two coats of this base coat and let dry. Again, if you are ONLY using this clear polish, apply your cuticle oil, applying a tiny amount to each cuticle and massage into the nail and cuticle.

The first time I became aware of consumer titanium, was when I bought my glasses. Seems that I among other people are very allergic to some metals, and have had some bad reactions to metal wire rim frames, that manifested as burning wells were of the metal touched my skin.
