Thoracic Spinal Stenosis Symptoms and Treatments

without comments

Thoracic spinal stenosis is a condition in which the spinal cord or spinal nerves are compressed by narrowing of the spinal canal or the openings between vertebrae. The thoracic spine has some unique characteristics that make thoracic spinal stenosis a little different than stenosis in other areas. Thoracic spinal stenosis rarely occurs in isolation, but is almost always accompanied by stenosis in the lumbar area, and sometimes also the cervical spine.

There are 12 thoracic vertebra and they articulate with the 12 sets of ribs that protect our major organs. The thoracic spine curves outward, and the curve is gentler than the cervical or lumbar curves. Because of the ribs, the thoracic spine is more fixed than the cervical or lumbar areas, too. Most of the motion of the thoracic spine is rotation, with little flexion or extension.

The spinal canal is naturally narrower in the thoracic area, even though the size of the spinal cord remains the same. That means there is less extra space, so it takes less obstruction to cause problems.

Symptoms Like cervical and lumbar spinal stenosis, thoracic spinal stenosis can be congenital or acquired. There is a great deal of difference, however, in how it is manifested.

Most thoracic spinal stenosis is due to degenerative changes?arthritis in the joints, bone spurs, disc degeneration and other changes due to aging. As the degeneration progresses, you may experience pain in your back and legs, either aching in your legs when you walk that gets better when you rest, or pain that radiates down your back or legs. You may develop problems with walking or loss of bowel or bladder function.

Because the thoracic spinal canal is already naturally narrow, people with congenital spinal stenosis cannot tolerate any extra pressure on the spinal cord. They tend to develop symptoms of cord compression (loss of sensation or movement below the injury) rapidly after minor injury.

Treatment Degenerative thoracic spinal stenosis may get better with conservative treatment, which includes anti-inflammatory medications, pain management and physical therapy. Steroid injections or nerve blocks may help manage the pain.

If the pain is uncontrolled or if there are signs of cord compression, however, surgery is necessary to relieve pressure on the cord or spinal nerves. Traditional surgical options are laminectomy or corpectomy to provide more room in the spinal canal and spinal fusion to stabilize the spine and prevent damage to the cord.

Minimally invasive surgery may be an option for some cases of thoracic stenosis. Surgery is done through an endoscope using a microscope to directly visualize the spine. Microsurgical techniques allow the surgeon to perform precise, delicate maneuvers to remove the nerve pressure and repair structures.

Home Acne Treatment – Better than Proactiv

    without comments

The best choice for good acne skin care is to wear no makeup atall. But if you feel you must wear makeup, choose products labeled noncomedogenic — that means they will not clog your pores. Be aware that these products may still cause acne in some people. Above all, avoid makeup with an oil base. Read the labels carefully and use sparingly.

Oral contraceptives: For women with acne who also need birth control, some doctors will prescribe an oral contraceptive that contains either mestranol or ethinylestradiol. These drugs interfere with the androgen hormone that causes acne.

Isotretinoin: Like the topical retinoic acid, this medication is a derivative of vitamin A and it works to prevent the blockage of oil glands. However, blocking the glands does not fix the problem.

There are a few choices available to treat moderate acne scarring. The most popular are dermabrasion and laser resurfacing. Dermabrasion is a scar treatment in which a diamond plated wheel is used to ?sand? your face. This technique has been around for a long time and sandpaper was once used instead of the new machines that utilize the diamond plated tool. Generally, this procedure takes around an hour to perform. You should expect some scabbing and redness for a few weeks. This method is most effective for individual with very pale or very dark complexions.

I have a question for acne-researchers. You say that acne is not a disease at all! If it is not a disease, then, what are you treating for? Why these galaxy of medicines and lotions are mounting the windows of drug stores? And what about those scar-problems, that one has to face? Now, don?t say there is no scar at all! Just because, your search and research is unable to get at it, do not deny its existence! Can you say that Malaria fever comes and goes after 7 days? Don?t you treat it as Malaria, when you get the attack?

Getting regular exercise can also help prevent acne. When we exercise, we are increasing the blood flow to our skin, and providing more oxygen to our skin cells. Sweating moderately also cleans our skin pores from the inside out, also aiding in the prevention of acne. Regular exercise and moderate sweating are excellent ways of helping to prevent acne, but taking a shower immediately afterwards is very important.

Debt Consolidation Is Not Always The Right Solution

    without comments

Debt consolidation can save you from debt problems, can improve your credit score and save you thousands of dollars. However, not all debt can be consolidated and given that there are different consolidation programs you should check if the one you chose or the one that the agent chose for you is really to your advantage.

There are many reasons why debt consolidation may not be the right solution for you. Debt consolidation cannot solve debt problems for all kind of debts. Debt consolidation may be too expensive if debt has already affected your credit and you don?t have collateral. And certain debt consolidation programs may be nothing but scams. Thus, you need to be well aware of what you are getting into.

    Debt Not To Be Consolidated

For starters, you should understand than not all debt is suitable to be consolidated. The reasons for this are varied. Most subsidized loans already carry very low interest rates and thus, it makes no sense to consolidate those loans by using a more expensive loan. This is always true, unless of course what you need is to reduce the monthly payments by extending the loan repayment period.

There are many subsidized loans. Government loans for students, private loans for students, government loans for first time home buyers, government loans for starting businesses, government loans for research disciplines, etc. are just a few examples of subsidized loans that are not suitable for consolidation.

There are loans that being secured are not suitable for consolidation. Though refinancing can be a form of consolidation if other loans and debt are repaid with the exceeding cash obtained from a cash-out refinance loan, truth is that very seldom a home loan or home equity loan is included in a debt consolidation program.

    Debt Suitable For Consolidation

Generally speaking only debt which is unsecured in nature and secured debt taken when your credit score was low (bad credit debt) is suitable for debt consolidation. The latter will be suitable only if your credit score has improved or if you can provide better collateral and thus obtain a more competitive interest rate.

Examples of unsecured debt are: unsecured personal loans and personal lines of credit, credit card debt, store card debt, pay day loans, cash advance loans, certain student debt, bank account overdraw agreements, bank pre-approved personal loans. All of these can be consolidated into a single loan or the terms negotiated by a debt consolidation agent.

Debt consolidation in the form of a loan carries the advantage of obtaining a single and lower monthly payment that will simplify your budget while you work on your expenses. Debt consolidation in the form of negotiation is also an excellent tool that can provide a solution by reducing rates, eliminating debt generated by interests or extending the repayment programs so as to make debt more affordable.

And finally, both methods can be combined offering an excellent way of eliminating debt, managing finances and improving credit score in the same debt consolidation program.

You have Been Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis: What Now ?

    without comments

Being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis is a very hard situation for anyone to be in. In the immediate aftermath, you are probably experiencing feelings of anger, frustration, and fear. These emotions are natural, and it may be some time before you feel that you have regained some equilibrium in your life. While these feelings may never go away entirely, the first thing you must realize is that MS is not a fatal disease, nor does the diagnosis mean that you will begin experiencing the symptoms right away. Many people diagnosed with MS have many years of healthy living ahead of them; some even find that they are able to outperform their friends at various activities right through their senior years. Because most MS diagnoses take place between the ages of 20 and 40, individuals who have the disease often have much longer to deal with the reality than those diagnosed with other disorders. It is important to realize that while definitely frightening, this diagnosis is not a life sentence.

You no doubt received your diagnosis via your family doctor; he or she should give you contact information on specialists in this field. You and your family should try to make an appointment right away, and discuss the various options available. There are several different treatments that can stagnate the development of multiple sclerosis symptoms and reduce the risk of new ones occurring. The sooner you begin these treatments, the better.

Your family is going to be an integral part of the new road that you are on. You should resolve not to keep your pain or your frustration to yourself, as these feelings will magnify without an outlet. A good thing to do is to find a counselor who can work with you and your whole family to facilitate discussion; this is particularly important if you are married, as the diagnosis will likely put a whole new stress factor on your relationship.

Finding information about multiple sclerosis is one of the best ways to combat the fear that the disorder can cause in many people. Again, because of the young diagnosis, many people?s decisions to have families of their own can be affected when the disease is confirmed. It is imperative for you to understand how the disease works and how this may or may not affect those around you and your ability to have children.

A multiple sclerosis diagnosis is truly a blow. There is little comfort that can be drawn outside of the strength of the individual; in the final equation, it is how you deal with your new situation that will determine your life from here on out. Remember that this diagnosis does not mean an immediate end to life as you know it. You do have a difficult reality to live with, but for many, the symptoms will not manifest until much later in life.

New Variations In Bed with Lovecentria?

    without comments

Routine, boredom and a million other things that get in the way tend to make sex repetitive and unexciting after a while. It’s not that the two lovers plan things this way, but rather the fact that life tends to dampen enthusiasm in the long run. Using the same positions every time and building up an unshakable routine doesn’t help either. I’m not sure why some people think that doing the same thing again and again is a good idea, but they are wrong. Everybody needs a little variation in his or her life, including in the bedroom department.

And variation can easily and delightfully be achieved by learning new sex positions. Far from being nothing but frills, positions are actually a great way of making the other feel your love. Changing positions during sex allows the two lovers to play with each other and to find new ways of getting and giving pleasure. If you feel that sex is getting stale, but love is still strong, then you simply have to learn some new positions and bring a little variety in the bedroom. And if you don’t know where to turn to find the best information on new positions, the answer is quite simple: Lovecentria?.

Lovecentria? has one of the most comprehensive databases of sex hints, tips and information on the Internet and, naturally, a whole section dedicated to sex positions. From the most mundane to the most exotic ones, we have them all accompanied by both text and incredible 3D animations that you can use to make sure you learn them right and make no embarrassing mistakes. It’s true that getting it right the first time is pretty hard, but trying and failing is not that bad if both partners get to see the fun side. Learning new positions can really strengthen the bond between two people.

Browsing the list of new positions together and choosing the ones you are going to use in a couple of minutes can be a very sexy experience for both partners. Just think of all the pleasure lying ahead of you and focus on the fact that you are about to enjoy a great night and never worry that things might turn out wrong. You’re just beginning to learn new positions so there’s no reason to feel bad over a fumble, especially if the end result is mind blowing. Also, a really good idea is to try a decent number of positions in order to understand how they work.

The team has put together even more video and written guides that can add immensely to your knowledge and turn you into the ultimate lover. The entire website is packed with information that can help you understand what women think about men and how they see sex and what they like both in bed and in life. New sex positions may well turn out to be just the beginning of your acquaintance with the Lovecentria? website and you may find yourself returning time and again to read on other topics of interest.

7 Great Questions for Discovering Your Passions

    without comments

Leading a fulfilling life – a life you love and feel great about – is a matter of knowing how to put the pieces of your life together in a way that empowers you.

Your best life starts with CLARITY.

You create a fulfilling life by creatively capitalizing on your talents, passions and values. Self-knowledge is empowering. Once you have the ability to articulate your gifts you gain the power to actively use them, or leverage them, in your life.

The more you know about yourself the more power you have to create the life you most want. The more you understand, the more you have to work with.

Why is it important to discover your passions? Well, think of it this way. What do you think of when you think of “passion”? Probably something exciting, enticing and fun!

Another way to say it is passion = energy.

    Energy that feels good!

Creating your best life takes energy. Your passions will give you the energy to do the work you need to do to create the life you most want.

That’s because what we are passionate about is what we care deeply about. It’s as if we MUST DO those things we are most passionate about.

If you’re struggling in your life or career today it could be you’re not involved in work you feel passionate about. In other words, you may not care deeply enough about the work you’re doing to give it your all. Or, you may not have enough self-knowledge to bring YOUR BEST to everyday life.

Discovering your passions TURNS ON YOUR POWER. That’s because once you discover and understand what you’re most passionate about and find the words to articulate your passions, you can begin organizing your life around your passions. This will allow you to leverage THE BEST of who you are to create a life you love. That not only leads to a life that works well, it leads to a life that feels great from the inside out!

The following seven questions will assist you in discovering and articulating your passions. Be as descriptive as you’d like.

    1. What do I most often give to others?

    2. What do I have the most fun doing?

    3. What do others look to me for?

    4. What am I most often complimented on?

    5. What do I do where I lose all track of time?

    6. What do the people closest to me say my passions are?

    7. What ideas, things, places and/or people am I most inspired by?

Kuelap, the Fortress of the Clouds

    without comments

Kuelap is an ancient and truly magnificent structure. The only place that can really compare to its size, mystery and grandeur is the Sanctuary of MachuPicchu, but even then, Kuelap is at least twice as old and quite a bit bigger- it is estimated to contain 3 times more material than Egypt?s largest pyramid!

It was built by the Chachapoyas (meaning the warriors of the clouds), which was what the Inkas called these people (the name they used to refer to themselves is unknown). Very little is currently known of this culture and since the Incas and the Spanish conquistadors were the principal sources of information on the Chachapoyas, unbiased, first-hand information of this indigenous culture remains scarce. Much of what we do know about them is based on archaeological evidence from ruins, pottery, tombs and other artifacts.

The Chachapoyas were an Andean people who lived in the cloud forests of the Amazonas region of present-day Peru and one of the most advanced civilizations to develop in this tropical jungle region.

Studies of pre-Inka Chachapoya skeletal remains from Salsipuedes and other burial Sites indicate that the Chachapoyas were of Andean stock but, on average, taller than their contemporaries in other parts of ancient Peru (1.59 meters for men and 1.46 meters for women).

Among the scattered colonial descriptions of Chachapoyas, almost all the Chroniclers commented on their white skin and on the beauty of their women. Even Father Calancha succumbed to their beauty, noting:

?These are the? most graceful Indians in all the Indies and the women are the most beautiful.? The chronicler Pedro Cieza de Le?n described them: “They are the? most handsome of all the people that I have seen in Indies, and their wives were so beautiful that because of their gentleness, many of them deserved to be the Incas’ wives and to also be taken to the Sun Temple (…) The women and their husbands always dressed in woolen clothes and in their heads they wear their llautos, which are a sign they wear to be known everywhere.” Their art style also reflects a mix of local and exotic influences. According to the analysis of the Chachapoyas objects, their cultural goods have Andean roots and do not exhibit Amazon cultural tradition. The well-preserved burial offerings found near the Laguna de los C?ndores (the lake of the condors) are playing a vital part in revealing answers regarding the genesis of the style. Recurring images found throughout the area in pictographs and in textiles and gourds display human figures sporting feathered headdresses, which suggests common narratives and beliefs and the myths they reflect. Another image found near the laguna is that of a feline-like animal with fanged teeth. Such representations may reflect aspects of Chachapoya symbolism, whose meaning has been lost in time.

Kuelap is the biggest and most famous of Chachapoya architectural sites, only one among hundreds of similarly constructed settlements straddling ridges and clinging to mountain tops. It is presumed to have taken at least 200 years to complete and was only brought to the world?s attention in1843, when it was found in remarkably good condition by Juan Cris?stomo Nieto. It was built on top of a huge mountain peak using millions of cubic feet of stone and consists of massive exterior stone walls, which contain more than four hundred buildings inside. It is roughly (no comma) 584m long and 110m Wide, with 20 meter high walls. Inside the Kuelap fortress can be found various structures whose use, or purpose, is a complete mystery. One, known as ?El Tintero,? is a large stone structure built in the shape of an inverted cone, a real challenge to the laws of gravity, since the diameter of its top is much larger than that of its bottom. Some think it was a prison. Others think it was an oracle observatory where the shaman would go inside to observe a special star pass over ?the lens? to signal an exact time or event of the year. Around the fortress, set inside each of the five walls, are gigantic open doorways or portals. The best preserved portal, and probably the principal one, is 10m high and 3m wide. As you go inside the entryway you?ll see a passage that looks like a ramp with walls and if you continue along this passage it will start to narrow down to a small tunnel until, eventually, it will only allow the passage of one person at a time. This would have been an ideal place to fend off enemies; since the walls are too high to scale or raise ladders to access, the gigantic doors would seem the logical way for an enemy to storm inside. However, once they had started up the ramp, they would discover too late, that the passageway narrowed down to where only one person at a time could squeeze inside the citadel. Though it might seems that Kuelap was built for defensive purposes, the true reason for its construction remains unknown. Some have tried to demonstrate that it, was more than a fortress; it might have been a fortified place destined to serve as refuge to the population in emergency cases. Some say that the Chachapoyas didn?t build their citadels on the tops of mountains for defensive reasons at all, but in order to make maximum use of the land for cultivation. Referred to as the ‘Machu Picchu of the north,’ there is still a great deal to discover and investigate about Kuelap. It has a veil of mystery that intrigues all those who visit it, although they are few due to its remote location, but many say that its beauty far outweighs the hardships of getting there. Over the past decade, the Peruvian government has been working on making it easier for tourists to access. Kuelap is a treasure of ancient secrets that deserves to be viewed and protected. Kuoda Tours brings people to visit remote regions of Peru, including Kuelap.

A Brief Introduction to Brick and Tile

    without comments

Although brick and tile are two of the oldest construction materials, they remain favorites among homebuilders and home improvement specialists today. And there’s a good reason for it! Not only is brick and tile beautiful, they’re strong and resistant to high winds and they’re responsive to temperature – making them premium textiles for shelter and insulation.

Brick and Tile Have A History

Brick has a history that’s at least six thousand years old. Made of clay, bricks are made by burning them in a kiln for a specific length of time. The end result is a collection of 2 1/4 ? 3 3/4 ? 8-inch blocks of heat resistant, strong, and hard block of building material. Their simple production is what lends to this material’s historical and cultural expansion.

Tiles of the past were made of clay as well. Only recently have we begun tile production with synthetic plastic. Historically, facing tile is the most common and you’ve surely seen this style of tile as a flat glazed square. Another style that you might be familiar with is terra cotta – hard-unglazed brownish-red earthenware. Terra cotta is usually applied to brick or plaster.

    Brick Types

Different types of brick serve different purposes. The most widely recognized brick is a reddish clay and sand combination that might have a hole in the middle of it. This kind of brick is known as a Kiln Brick. Facing brick is kiln-burned also; however it has a smoother and more attractive surface. As a result, facing brick is used on visible parts of buildings where kiln bricks are reserved for non-visible parts – just like the common brick. You will typically find the common brick along sidewalls. As decoration, brick veneer is thinner (shallow) than the others and is used (with mortar) to surface interior walls.

Brick veneer isn’t the only type of brick that’s used for aesthetic purposes however. You can create an interesting atmosphere within your home with tapestry brick, which is impressed with a design, or with molded brick, which is shaped into interesting forms (curves, arches, etc.).

    Tile Types

Interestingly, you’ll find a lot more different kinds of tile than you’ll find of brick. We’ve already introduced terra cotta, but we haven’t touched on facing tile (otherwise known as flooring or wall tile). Like facing brick, facing tile is meant for visible areas.

Italian Faience tile is known for it’s opaque glazes whereas Spanish Majolica tile is known for its bright surfaces. Dutch Delft tile shows off an oriental appearance with white or blue hues.

You Have A Wide Assortment to Work From

As you can see, you have a wide selection of both tile and brick to pick and choose from when you’re thinking about laying out a new floor or wall or even counter top. You’re limited only by your imagination and your contractor can help you decide which type of tile or brick is suitable for your climate, lifestyle, or creative goals!

    An Introduction to Mannequins

    without comments

Just about every clothing store uses mannequins. There are many types of mannequins made of different materials including wood, wax, fiberglass, and plastic. Some mannequins are set in one pose, while others have adjustable arms and legs. There are mannequins that look like men, women, and children. Some mannequins are even made to resemble famous movie stars and celebrities.

Mannequins were invented over 1 years ago. While mannequins are mostly used to display clothing, they have some other uses as well. Life-size dummies are used in car crash tests and other mannequins are used in CPR training classes. These types of mannequins make it possible for people to learn the effects that certain traumatic events could have on the human body without having to actually put anyone in harm?s way.

There are many types of mannequins used to model clothing. The most common type is the life-size mannequin. These mannequins are the same size as a real person and have arms, legs, hands, feet, and a head. Most of them can be posed in different positions to give them a more lifelike look. They are used to model pants, shirts, dresses and shoes, as well as other types of clothing. These mannequins can look like males, females, or children. Other mannequins consist of only a torso on a stand. These can only display shirts and blouses, but are easier to maintain and take up less space than full-size mannequins.

Mannequins used to model clothing are usually made to resemble people who are physically fit in order to show a flattering picture of what people will look like in the clothes being modeled.

Mannequins serve several purposes. It is easy to take them for granted or not even notice them, but they are vital to the clothing industry as well as car safety tests and CPR classes.
